Kuopio Camera Club has photo exhibition in Kuopio City Library between 27.02.2012 – 03.03.2012. This is the first time I have my photos in a public exhibition and I decided to choose six photos from the ‘Life of Helmut‘ series. When I arrived to the library I noticed that I was a bit unprepared and didn’t have any means of hanging the photos. Well small needles did the job and I think the loneliness theme works in a bit rougher presentation too.
I needed more space for my photography gear. I don’t use chair with one of my desks so empty space at the center was good for three more drawers. My dad had some used plywood that was good for drawers inside and cost nothing. I also needed one glue laminated board for three front plates, some 12x24mm wood and drawer rails. Once drawers were ready, stain used for the desk was still bit of a mystery. I took an educated guess and got lucky. Stain color was spot on. When I found the same handles that were used for the old drawers I knew that the new drawers will blend to the old desk nicely.
Temperatures in eastern Finland have been between -15 and -30°C lately. I’m really not a winter person so these weathers are not for me. But of course trees have nice frost and it looks beautiful everywhere. So what can you do but go out and start taking photos. Luckily my Nikon does not seem to mind about sub -20°C temperatures and even the battery seemed to have enough juice. Can’t say same thing about me. If you put a woolen scarf or helmet to cover your cheeks and mouth your breath puts your glasses and camera screen to such a frost that you can’t see anything. If you don’t … well your cheeks start to get cold pretty quickly. Fur hat seems to be a pretty good compromise. At least it keeps your head warm and also a part of your cheeks if you put the flaps down. And hey you get a funny beard for free!
