Camera Club Award

I don’t think myself as a portrait photographer but my ‘Dark Thoughts‘ self portrait won the Camera Club of Kuopio Picture of the Month Award (people category). It was actually three months since there was no meeting in summer months. ‘Peek’ got third place also in people category and ‘Eye on the Ball‘ third place in Nature category so it was successful meeting for me.

Friend and I decided to take some motorcycling photos. Plan was to take some photos so that camera is attached to motorcycle and some from the edge of the road. I was planning to sell my old Nikon D7000 (Amazon) body but after this I’m not sure. With Samyang 8mm Fisheye (Amazon) it was such a good combination for action pictures that I think I’ll keep it as a second body. We used Manfrotto Magick Arm and Super Clamp (Amazon) to attach camera to the bike. It was very sturdy and kept camera nicely with the motorcycle. Naturally there was some shaking but I took enough pictures to get couple of good shots. I triggered the camera with Hähnel Giga T Pro II (Amazon) wireless remote control. It has over 100m range so it was enough to cover the small part of road where we took the photos. All in all a very good evening photo shoot. My friend likes almost everything that is burning fuel and has also snowmobile among other things so that might be a nice project for the winter.

My wife’s brother was visiting us this summer. He has big dogue de bordeaux named Konna. Besides it is a pretty photogenic dog, it’s also a massive drooler. We took off all the carpets and limited dog’s access only to down stairs. That way it was pretty easy to just mop the floor (and maybe some walls) afterwards. Besides taking some photographs in our house we took the dog to a field. There I got real opportunity to test my new Nikkor 70-200mm lens (Amazon) and I love it. Dogs attitude was a bit on a lazy side and  it looked us like saying ‘You don’t fool me’, but I think I got a couple of nice shots.
