I’m stuck with this room concept and I’m good with that. I did it in “The Dark Room” series and for this new series “Peculiar Events” I’m doing it again. In contrast to my previous approach, where I used photoshopped room, I have built a real 1:6 scale room for this series. As a hobbyist, I don’t have the budget or space to create a 1:1 room like Eugenio Recuenco did for his stunning 365º series (If you haven’t seen it, I highly recommend you to check it out). However this miniature room feels quite in place for the home studio and I like building miniature models for it.
Initially, I had planned to use a song as the starting point for this series, drawing inspiration from the lyrics as a whole, specific phrases, or overall emotions. However, I also began to explore ideas from proverbs and poetry would be nice too… As you can see, I’m already all over the place with this one.
In addition to the room itself, I’ve also decided to incorporate portraits of the characters who become lost in the room. The first images for this series were inspired by “Necessary Evil”, a song by “Motionless In White.” These images delve into the horror genre, so I must warn you that they may not be suitable for individuals with coulrophobia (fear of clowns).
